Allows the identification of any stone by determining the composition, density, and other factors native to the stone. Also allows knowledge of common sources of that type of stone, though not the precise origin of that stone in particular.
Determining the composition of an unknown stone requires a properly equipped laboratory including weights, measures, hammers, chisels, vessels, lenses, and various acids. Stones common to the character’s native region may be identified by nondestructive means.
